Doric is the solo,
side-project of Stathis Leontiadis, mostly known as the one half of the Human
Puppets, as well as the Exetix and Plexiglas. Doric is intrigued by the all
analogue mentality of the late 70’s-early 80’s music field and passionately
committed to vintage synths and machines, creating a very distinctive and
specific sound result.
25 March at Boiler stage and
it was the second time for me watching Doric live. Another live performance with exclusive use of analogue
electronics and drum machines .So without any laptops at all, the sound was
being built on stage, just like the early 80's electronic scene. Minimal synth
sounds in high tempo, danceable rythms and deep male vocals drawing on
melancholic synthscapes and early eighties coldwave. Doric played songs from the 2 albums- a great performance.
The highlight of the show was
the participation in 3 tracks (c.l.a , the maze , poets land) of a special female voice- Valisia Odell
(Phoenix catscratch, Strawberry Pills, Father Breath). The rhythmic and dark
analogue sounds combined with the 80’s cold voice of Valisia and her flawless
stage presence immediately took off the live and gave us a good example of what
we could expect on an album in the future as a duo. Personal favourite of the
show the track 'c.l.a'. In conclusion, a great show by two of the most talented
mucicians in Greek underground scene.
